En Español, en Verde
Yesterday, I was lucky to have been invited to watch Roland Garros’ Women’s Final, AND to have lunch in the sort-of VIP salon. My most important concern (if you know me you have guessed..) was what to wear for the ocassion..It is Roland Garros..and you don’t go there wearing Carrefour or Gap T-shirt !!
Even if we are wearing the Vichy dress auntie Martha gave us when we turned 16, the right accessory…. like white gloves (that belonged to auntie Martha !!) will give us that “je ne sais quoi”
As soon as I stepped in, these icons of French chic nonchalance, greeted me....I felt like an ant…how can they be so…classy, beautiful..! (particularly the boy ;D
One thing was clear…the white hat was a “must” if you wanted to be “in” !! There was no sun, but who cared?
But let’s look at our lunch menu: everything started as usual…some amuse-bouche with champagne, then, as a starter, green asparagus Mikado, with clams from Brittany. For main, fish (turbot) with beetroot risotto…the typically French cheese coarse, and for dessert Schuss (what is it?) with fresh berries (I did not like this dessert too much..too much cream!) and coffee! And just like that..with champagne and wine in our system, we staggered our way to the courts, to see the match between Russian Maria Sharapova, and the Italian Sara Errani.
Sharapova won, but the tiny Italian battled graciously to the end….

What a great game! Lucky you to have seen it live! And in French style!
Yes, I know I was lucky..almost like a dream for this south-american girl..
Thanks!

Never a dull moment with you, Cristina ! You must be the most “in”and lucky girl in Paris.
Are you widening your scope to fashion now ? You forgot to comment on the Russian champion’s extraordinary beauty and class. I know, it’s obvious ! Did you manage to have a close look of her ? Moreover, she appears to be extremely “sympathique”. Some people seem to have it all – life is so unfair !!!
P.S. You were very lucky with the weather too it seeems !
She seems to be very nice, it is true!
thanks!
What a treat, thank you for taking us along!! I’ve always wanted to go to the French Open, and now I feel as if I have. saw Sharapova at the US Open a couple of years ago, she’s my favorite.
She seems to be a very nice girl (why do some woemen have everything??!!)
Hi Cristina!
Definitely a great moment! thanks for sharing.
So few people have the occasion to enter Roland Garros. And to be in the VIP room might be so cool.
I watched it from TV.
Hope you’ll have the occasion to get your hat next year!
